Know before you buy
Kokudei is a traditional black clay from the Tokoname region known for its mineral composition. It is believed to interact with tea leaves to mellow out astringency, resulting in a smoother, more balanced flavor profile.
The sasame filter is built directly into the clay body of the teapot. Because it features a wide surface area with many small holes, it is highly resistant to clogging and allows for a faster, smoother pour compared to traditional metal mesh strainers.
While it is excellent for most Japanese green teas like sencha or gyokuro, the porous nature of unglazed Tokoname clay means it will absorb the oils and aromas of the tea over time. It is best to dedicate this pot to one type of tea to avoid flavor cross-contamination.
This teapot is not dishwasher safe. Simply rinse it with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry thoroughly with the lid off to prevent moisture buildup.
The 320ml capacity is designed primarily for single servings or small, intimate tea sessions. It is perfect for one or two people, but you may need to refill it if serving a larger group.
