What customers say
The StupidFish Designs Planck PE foam insert is highly praised by the mechanical keyboard community for delivering superior acoustic refinement. Owners consistently note its exceptional precision and perfect drop-in fit, which eliminates the hassle of DIY cutting. This pre-cut quality is the key differentiator, ensuring immediate acoustic improvement. The foam effectively dampens case ping and high-frequency resonance, transforming the sound profile to the desired deep, satisfying 'thocky' characteristic. While priced slightly above raw material, users agree the guaranteed fit and ease of installation fully justify the premium. It is viewed as a highly recommended, high-quality upgrade that delivers exactly on its promise of acoustic enhancement.
Know before you buy
The 0.5mm PE foam sits between your PCB and switches to modify the sound profile of your keyboard. It typically results in a deeper, more refined acoustic signature and a slightly more cushioned typing feel.
The foam is designed to accommodate the standard Planck ortholinear layout. It includes cutouts to support configurations with no spacekey, a single centered spacekey, or a split two-spacekey setup.
The foam is not natively compatible with rotary encoders. You will need to manually modify or trim the foam to clear the encoder's footprint on the PCB.
It is not recommended to use this PE foam in combination with 4mm plate foam. Using both can create excessive thickness, which may prevent your switches from seating properly or cause interference with the PCB.
This foam is specifically engineered for the Planck by OLKB. While it fits the standard ortholinear form factor, it is best suited for those specific models.
