The 'Linear' output is a traditional DC output with multi-stage passive and active filtering, including a 30,000 μF capacitor bank, a ferrite choke, and an active output filter with a hybrid voltage regulator. The second output utilizes RME's proprietary μFilter technology, processing the pre-filtered signal through highly efficient active filters to achieve an exceptionally clean DC output with very low noise (just a few micro-volts). This second output includes sensor technology to measure and adapt the output voltage directly at the DC connector, ensuring extremely low output impedance and load regulation, providing a clean +12.0 V at 2.5 A load without voltage drops. Note that only one output can be used at a time. The AC mains side benefits from a 2-stage HF filter and DC filter, coupled with a 60 VA audio toroidal transformer featuring an additional isolation winding and magnetic tape shielding for hum- and noise-free operation. For noise management, a GND lift switch allows disconnection of DC ground from protective earth (PE) to eliminate ground loops without affecting safety. It also includes a ground terminal screw connection for earthing other devices. Status is indicated by two front LEDs for operating modes and errors (power, thermal/overload, undervoltage, short, active output). The unique AutoDark mode dims LEDs unless an error occurs or briefly during power up. The unit comes with two DC Sensor connection cables (1m) with lockable & non-lockable DC plugs (2.1 x 5.5 mm).
