Yes, the Chaozhou zhuni clay is designed to withstand open flames, making it compatible with standard gas stovetops. We recommend using a low-to-medium flame to ensure even heating and to protect the integrity of the clay.

Because the entire piece is crafted from clay, the handle will conduct heat as the water boils. We recommend using a tea towel or a small cloth to handle the boiler once it has been heated.

Rinse the boiler with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry completely. Avoid using soaps or detergents, as the porous nature of the clay can absorb these scents and affect the flavor of future brews.

This boiler is primarily designed for heating water to be poured into a separate teapot or gaiwan. While you could technically brew tea inside, the clay is best utilized for boiling water to achieve the specific temperature and mineral profile required for traditional gongfu tea.

We recommend boiling a pot of plain water in the vessel and discarding it before your first tea session. This helps clean any residual clay dust from the manufacturing process and prepares the vessel for use.
