Know before you buy
Because this is a low-output moving coil (MC) cartridge, you will need a phono stage or preamp that supports MC cartridges. It requires a phono input capable of handling a 0.4 mV output.
The nude Shibata stylus is designed for high-frequency detail and exceptional tracking. It reaches deeper into the record groove than standard elliptical styli, resulting in more accurate sound reproduction and reduced wear on your vinyl.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the pre-threaded body. You won't need to fumble with tiny nuts behind the headshell, as the mounting screws thread directly into the cartridge body.
The recommended vertical tracking force is between 1.8 and 2.2 grams, with 2.0 grams being the standard setting for optimal performance.
Boron is an incredibly stiff and lightweight material. By using a nude boron cantilever, the cartridge can respond to the nuances of the record groove with greater speed and less vibration, which helps minimize distortion.
The AT-OC9XSH uses a standard 1/2-inch mount, making it compatible with the vast majority of modern and vintage tonearms. Just ensure your tonearm can accommodate a 7.6-gram cartridge and that your phono stage is compatible with moving coil designs.
