Mangave Mad About Mangave 'Pineapple Express'

A Mangave is an intergeneric hybrid created by crossing Manfreda and Agave. This combination gives you the best of both worlds: the faster growth rate of Manfreda and the sculptural, refined look of an Agave.

This plant requires full sun to maintain its compact shape and vibrant burgundy speckling. If it doesn't receive enough light, the foliage may stretch or lose its distinctive color pattern.

The 'Pineapple Express' is hardy in zones 8–10. If you live in a colder climate, you should keep it in a container so you can easily move it indoors once temperatures drop, ensuring it stays in a spot above 60°F during the winter.

Once established, this plant is quite drought-tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as it prefers dry, well-drained conditions rather than consistently moist soil.

While the 'Pineapple Express' is deer and rabbit resistant, it does feature cinnamon-colored spines along its margins and tips. It is best to place it in a location where curious pets or children won't accidentally brush against the sharp edges.

It maintains a compact habit, reaching about 10 inches in height and 18 inches in width. Its small footprint makes it an excellent choice for containers, windowsills, or small garden spaces.
