Know before you buy
Mogake is a traditional firing method where seaweed is wrapped around the clay before it enters the kiln. During the firing process, the seaweed leaves unique, delicate patterns on the surface of the ceramic, making every piece one-of-a-kind.
The integrated clay strainer is built directly into the spout area, which is ideal for Japanese green teas like Sencha or Fukamushi. Because it is made of the same clay as the pot, it ensures a pure flavor profile without the metallic taste sometimes associated with stainless steel mesh.
The traditional Yokode (side handle) is designed primarily for right-handed pouring, allowing for a steady grip and precise control. While left-handed users can certainly use it, the ergonomic design is optimized for a right-hand pour.
To develop a rich patina, simply rinse the teapot with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry completely. Avoid using soap or detergents, as the porous clay will absorb these scents and potentially alter the flavor of your future brews.
With a 280mL capacity, this teapot is perfectly sized for brewing one to two cups of tea at a time. It is best suited for intimate tea sessions where you can enjoy multiple infusions of the same leaves.
