Know before you buy
Stepless adjustment allows you to make infinite, tiny changes to your grind size rather than being locked into pre-set notches. This is essential for espresso, as it lets you fine-tune the extraction time to match the specific roast and age of your beans.
The Fred Prima uses a manual, on-demand dosing system. You simply press your portafilter against the activation button to start the grinder and pull it away once you have reached your desired dose.
While the Ø38 mm conical burrs are optimized for espresso, the grinder is capable of producing grinds for drip coffee and pour-over. However, because it is designed primarily for espresso, switching between very coarse and fine settings frequently can be less convenient than on grinders built specifically for filter coffee.
The smoked finish on the hopper is designed to filter out UV light, which can degrade coffee beans over time. While it helps protect against light exposure, we still recommend keeping the hopper only partially full to ensure you are always using the freshest beans possible.
