Lehman's Homemade Laundry Soap Starter Kit
Best starter kit for eco conscious DIY enthusiasts.
Slash your laundry supply bills and extend the life of your clothes by making your own laundry soap. Our starter set includes everything you need to make several batches - enough to wash more than 800 loads at about 7 cents per load. Just a few old-time ingredients will get your laundry cleaner, for less money. Homemade soap is gentle enough for those with sensitive skin, easy on fabrics and the environment, too. Soap can be used in HE washing machines. Most components USA made. Total wt 13-1/4 lb. Set includes: 20 Mule Team Borax (65 oz box); Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (55 oz box); 5 bars Fels-Naptha soap (5-1/2 oz each); Measuring cup; Wooden spoon; Hand grater; Recipe and instructions; Reusable 4-gallon bucket with tight-fitting lid and carrying bail for storing your homemade soap. Note: Our included recipe requires heating the ingredients on your stovetop to make a gel-like soap. Use approx. 1/2 cup per load. When you run out of an ingredient from starter set, simply reorder what you need. Helpful Hint: Lid seals extremely tightly. We recommend getting out special bucket opener/hammer to easily seal and reopen the lid.

Know before you buy
Yes, this soap is compatible with HE machines. Because it is a low-sudsing formula, it will not interfere with the sensors or drainage systems of modern washers.
Yes, the formula is generally considered gentle and hypoallergenic. Since you are making it yourself, you avoid the harsh synthetic fragrances and dyes often found in commercial detergents that can trigger skin sensitivities.
The process requires heating the ingredients on your stovetop to create a gel-like consistency. Detailed instructions and the necessary tools, including a grater and wooden spoon, are included in the kit.
The recommended amount is approximately 1/2 cup per load. This dosage allows you to get over 800 loads out of the ingredients provided in the starter kit.
The bucket features a very tight-fitting lid to keep the ingredients secure. We recommend using a bucket opener or a small hammer to help pry the lid off when you need to access your supplies.
The kit is designed as a starter set, but you do not need to buy the whole kit again. You can simply purchase individual boxes of Borax, washing soda, and Fels-Naptha soap separately as you run out.
