Yes, the HappiSack requires a saddle equipped with rear loops for mounting. If your saddle does not have these loops, you will need to purchase a separate saddle loop adapter to secure the bag properly.
The tightly woven Scottish cotton is naturally durable and resistant to dirt, but it is not fully waterproof. While it will handle light splashes and road spray, we recommend using a dry bag or waterproof liner for your electronics and sensitive gear during heavy rain.
The single-strap top flap with a dowel is designed for quick, one-handed access. While we don't recommend rummaging through your bag while in motion, the design allows you to easily flip the flap open and closed once you have pulled over.
The American leather will naturally develop a patina over time; you can occasionally apply a leather conditioner to keep it supple. The brass hardware is durable and requires no special maintenance, though it may darken slightly with age, which is a normal characteristic of the material.
The bag is designed with some flexibility, but it is best to avoid overstuffing to maintain the integrity of the single-strap closure. If you find yourself consistently needing more space, you may want to look into a larger pannier system rather than pushing the limits of this saddlebag.
