Unior Metal Tire Levers

We generally advise against using metal tire levers on carbon fiber rims, as they can easily scratch or damage the delicate surface. These are best reserved for alloy or steel rims where the extra durability is needed.

Plastic levers are great for most road tires, but they can flex or snap when dealing with tight bead-to-rim tolerances, such as with downhill mountain bike tires or stubborn tubeless setups. These steel levers offer the rigidity required for those difficult, high-tension situations.

The hook is designed to catch onto a spoke once you have pried a section of the tire bead over the rim wall. This anchors the lever in place, freeing up your hands to work the rest of the tire around the rim without the lever slipping out.

While they are incredibly durable, they are heavier than composite or plastic options at 95 grams. They are excellent for a home workshop or a dedicated tool kit, but you might prefer lighter plastic levers for a minimalist saddlebag.

While metal is less forgiving than plastic, the risk of pinching an inner tube is more about technique than the material itself. As long as you are careful not to trap the tube between the lever and the rim wall during installation, these will work perfectly fine.
