The lid is designed to sit on top to retain heat and speed up boiling, but it does not lock into place. You will need to hold it securely with a pot gripper or heat-resistant cloth if you intend to use it for straining.

The handle is made of metal to save weight and ensure durability, so it will conduct heat. Always use a pot gripper or a bandana to handle the pan while it is on the stove.

The primary concern with PFOA-containing coatings is overheating. Avoid heating the pan while empty, as high temperatures can cause the coating to degrade and release fumes; always ensure there is food, water, or oil in the pan before turning on your stove.
