ZWO 1.25" OIII Filter - 7nm
Best narrow-band filter for capturing high-contrast nebula details.
Elevate your astrophotography and deep-sky observations with this specialized filter, designed to isolate specific emission lines from nebulae. Its narrow 7nm bandpass effectively reduces light pollution, significantly increasing the contrast between celestial objects and the night sky. This accessory is ideal for capturing detailed views of OIII emission nebulae, offering a clearer and more defined observation experience for both visual astronomers and photographers.

Know before you buy
This filter uses a standard 1.25-inch mounting thread, making it compatible with most standard 1.25-inch eyepieces, filter wheels, and camera adapters.
The 7nm OIII filter is specifically optimized for capturing ionized oxygen emissions, which are most prominent in planetary nebulae and supernova remnants.
While it is highly effective for long-exposure astrophotography, it can also be used for visual observation. Keep in mind that because it is a narrow-band filter, it will significantly darken the view, so it is best suited for larger aperture telescopes.
The 7nm bandwidth is narrow enough to block most light pollution and moonlight, which dramatically increases the contrast of nebulae. This allows you to capture faint details that would otherwise be washed out by background sky glow.
It is often used as part of a set, such as the SHO (Sulfur, Hydrogen-alpha, Oxygen) palette. While it works well on its own to isolate OIII emissions, combining it with H-alpha and SII filters will allow you to create full-color narrowband images.
