What customers say
This moving coil cartridge earns high praise for its exceptional detail retrieval and resolution, revealing subtle nuances in recordings. Users consistently highlight the MicroLinear stylus for its precise tracking, resulting in low surface noise and a clean, articulate sound. The imaging is frequently described as wide and deep, clearly delineating instruments across a balanced soundstage. Its neutral signature ensures musical authenticity across various genres. Know before you buy
Because this is a low-output moving coil (MC) cartridge, you will need a phono stage or an integrated amplifier that specifically supports MC cartridges. It is not compatible with standard moving magnet (MM) phono inputs.
Yes, the pre-threaded body eliminates the need for tiny nuts when mounting the cartridge to your headshell. You can simply screw the mounting bolts directly into the cartridge body, which significantly simplifies the setup process.
The Microlinear stylus shape provides precise groove tracking and high-frequency detail, while the lightweight, rigid boron cantilever minimizes resonance. Together, they ensure accurate signal retrieval with very low distortion.
The AT-OC9XML uses a standard 1/2-inch mount, making it compatible with the vast majority of modern and vintage tonearms. As long as your tonearm can balance a 7.6-gram cartridge and your phono stage supports MC input, it should work well.
PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) is a high-purity copper that allows for more efficient signal transmission. This helps maintain the integrity of the audio signal from the stylus to your phono stage, resulting in clearer, more transparent sound.
The recommended tracking force for the AT-OC9XML is 2.0 grams. It is important to use a high-quality stylus force gauge to set this accurately for optimal performance and to protect your vinyl records.
